Aniversarios, Fotografía (XXXIII) [Septiembre / September 8-14]

El 8 de Septiembre es el cumple de

Stephanie Morris, fotógrafa freelance y cineasta australiana.
Sus áreas principales de interés son la fotografía arquitectónica, de modas y retratos, y la cinematografía.
Actualmente estudia una licenciatura de Artes en Fotografía en la Universidad RMIT. Su película Memoria Fotográfica fue exhibido en el ACT Limelight Film Festival, 2013, y recibió un reconocimiento para el premio de Artes y Multimedia en los Premios Anuales Joven Ciudadano de Canberra en 2013.
Actualmente reside en Melbourne, Australia.

El 9 de Septiembre es el cumple de

Wolfgang Reisewitz, fotógrafo alemán nacido en 1917.
Después de la guerra, se convirtió en fotógrafo siguiendo los pasos de su padre. Estudió en la Escuela Estatal de Baviera.
Fue uno de los fundadores del grupo Fotoform, que realizó exposiciones en Alemania y Europa y condujo a una renovación de la fotografía alemana de posguerra.
Su obra fue tendiendo cada vez más hacia la fotografía abstracta, y recibió numerosos premios y reconocimientos internacionales. En 1999 obtuvo el Premio de Cultura de la Sociedad Fotográfica Alemana.
Murió en 2012.

Melanie Pullen, fotógrafa estadounidense nacida en 1975, que actualmente vive y trabaja en Los Angeles, California 
El trabajo de Pullen se ha exhibido internacionalmente, incluyendo exposiciones individuales en Ace Gallery, Los Angeles y Ace Gallery, Beverly Hills; White Wall Gallery, Seúl y MiCamera, Milán. Su trabajo también ha sido incluido en diversas exposiciones en museos y ha sido muy publicado. 
Pullen es bien conocida por su serie "Escenario del crimen de alta costura", que consta de más de cien fotografías basadas en los escenarios del crimen de los archivos de la policía de Nueva York y el Departamento de Policía de Los Ángeles. 
Para crear esta serie (1995-2005), Pullen contrató los servicios de un equipo de hasta 80 miembros y los modelos para las imágenes, empleando hasta un mes para crear cada una, con un coste para la serie de más de 13 millones de dólares en ropa y accesorios.

Liselotte Strelow, fotógrafa alemana nacida en 1908, bien conocida en su país durante la posguerra.
Se dedicó al retrato, y frente a su cámara pasaron las más importantes personalidades del mundo de los negocios, la política, autores, pintores, músicos...
En 1950, tras la guerra, se trasladó a Dusseldorf, especializándose en retrato y fotografía de teatro. Pronto se hizo conocida.
Hablaba mucho con sus modelos para crear un ambiente relajado, y trabajaba con un equipo sencillo; su cámara Rolleiflex y un par de reflectores.
Obtuvo la Medalla David Octavius Hill (1969) y el Premio de Cultura de la Sociedad Alemana de Fotografía (junto con Rosemarie Clausen y Regina Relang) en 1976.
Murió en 1981.



El 12 de Septiembre es el cumple de

Nancy "Nan" Goldin, fotógrafa estadounidense nacida en 1953. 
Después de asistir a la cercana Escuela Secundaria Lexington, se matriculó en la Escuela de la Comunidad Satya en Lincoln, donde un profesor la puso ante la cámara en 1968, Goldin tenía entonces quince años. Su primera exposición individual, que tuvo lugar en Boston en 1973, se basó en sus viajes fotográficos entre las comunidades homosexuales y transexuales de la ciudad, en las que había sido introducida por su amigo David Armstrong. Goldin se graduó en la Escuela del Museo de Bellas Artes de Boston / Universidad de Tufts en 1977/1978, donde había trabajado sobre todo con impresiones Cibachrome. 
Después de su graduación, Goldin se trasladó a la ciudad de Nueva York. Édouard Boubat, fotoperiodista y fotógrafo artístico francés nacido en 1923. 
Estudió tipografía y artes gráficas en la École Estienne y trabajó para una compañía de impresión antes de convertirse en fotógrafo. En 1943 fue sometido a trabajos forzados en la Alemania nazi, y fue testigo de los horrores de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Tomó su primera fotografía después de la guerra, en 1946, y fue galardonado con el Premio Kodak al año siguiente. Viajó por todo el mundo para la revista francesa Réalités y más tarde trabajó como fotógrafo independiente. El poeta francés Jacques Prévert lo llamó "corresponsal de la paz", ya que era apolítico y fotografió temas edificantes. Su hijo Bernard Boubat es también fotógrafo. 
Murió en 1999.

Alberto Korda (Alberto Díaz Gutiérrez), fotógrafo nacido en Cuba en 1928, recordado por su famosa imagen "Guerrillero Heroico", del revolucionario marxista argentino Che Guevara. 
Korda fue el hijo de un trabajador ferroviario, y realizó muchos trabajos antes de comenzar como ayudante de un fotógrafo. Su carrera comenzó tomando fotos en banquetes, bautizos y bodas. 
La Revolución Cubana fue el punto de inflexión en la carrera de Korda. Sus planes cambiaron radicalmente con el éxito de los revolucionarios. En 1959 el periódico de reciente creación ofrecía mayor espacio para que los fotógrafos mostraran sus fotografías, y Korda se convirtió en parte de la causa revolucionaria. 
Korda era un fotógrafo del periódico cubano Revolución cuando produjo la imagen icónica del Che Guevara que se convirtió en un símbolo mundial de la revolución y rebelión. 
Murió en 2001.

On September 8 is the birthday of

Stephanie Morris, Canadian freelance photographer and filmmaker.
Her key areas of interest are architectural, fashion and portrait photography and cinematography.
She is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts in Photography at RMIT University. Her film Photographic Memory was screened at the 2013 ACT Limelight Film Festival and she received a commendation for the Arts and Multimedia Award at the 2013 Young Canberra Citizen of the Year Awards.
She currently resides in Melbourne, Australia.

On September 9 is the birthday of

Wolfgang Reisewitz, German photographer born in 1917. 
After the war, he became a photographer in the footsteps of his father. Estudió en la Bavarian State School. 
He was one of the founders of Fotoform group, who performed exhibitions in Germany and Europe and led to a renewal of the postwar German photography.

Melanie Pullen, American photographer born in 1975, who currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California
Pullen's work has been exhibited internationally, including solo-shows at Ace Gallery, Los Angeles and Ace Gallery, Beverly Hills; White Wall Gallery, Seoul; MiCamera, Milan. Her work has also been included in various museum exhibitions and has been broadly published.
Pullen is most noted for High Fashion Crime Scenes which consists of over one-hundred photographs based on NYPD and LAPD crime scene files.
To create High Fashion Crime Scenes (1995–2005), Pullen employed the services of up to 80 crew members and models per picture, with each image taking up to a month to create, and the series using over $13 million worth of clothing and accessories.
Her photo shoots often resemble movie sets. High Fashion Crime Scenes in particular was directly inspired by cinema and photojournalism.

On September 11 is the birthday of

Liselotte Strelow, German photographer born in 1908, well known in his country during postwar.
He devoted himself to portrait, and passed in front of his camera the most important personalities in the world of business, politics, authors, painters, musicians ... 
In 1950, after the war, he moved to Dusseldorf, specializing in portrait photography and theater. She soon became known. 
She talked a lot with her models to create a relaxed atmosphere, and worked with simple equipment; her Rolleiflex camera and a couple of reflectors.

Nancy "Nan" Goldin, American photographer born in 1953.

She began documenting the post-punk new-wave music scene, along with the city's vibrant, post-Stonewall gay subculture of the late 1970s and early 1980s. She was drawn especially to the hard-drug subculture of the Bowery neighborhood; these photographs, taken between 1979 and 1986, form her famous work The Ballad of Sexual Dependency.
She lives and works in New York City, Berlin, and Paris.

On September 13 is the birthday of

Édouard Boubat, French photojournalist and art photographer born in 1923.
He studied typography and graphic arts at the École Estienne and worked for a printing company before becoming a photographer. In 1943 he was subjected to forced labour of French people in Nazi Germany, and witnessed the horrors of World War II. He took his first photograph after the war in 1946 and was awarded the Kodak Prize the following year. He travelled the world for the French magazine Réalités and later worked as a freelance photographer. French poet Jacques Prévert called him a "peace correspondent" as he was apolitical and photographed uplifting subjects. His son Bernard Boubat is also a photographer.
He died in 1999.

Today, September 14, is the birthday of

Alberto Korda (Alberto Díaz Gutiérrez), Cuban photographer born in 1928, remembered for his famous image Guerrillero Heroico of Argentine Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara.
Korda was the son of a railway worker, and took many jobs before beginning as a photographer's assistant. Korda began his career as a photographer who shot pictures at banquets, baptisms and weddings.
The Cuban Revolution was the turning point in Korda's career. His career plans were completely changed with the success of the revolutionaries. In 1959 the newly established newspaper offered the largest space for photographers to display their photographs, and Korda became part of the revolutionary cause.
Korda was a photographer for the Cuban newspaper Revolución when he produced the iconic image of Che Guevara that became a worldwide symbol of revolution and rebellion.
He died in 2001.
